Local Air Quality Management
The Environmental Regulation Section of Hull City Council’s Public Health Department reviews and assesses air quality across the City and produces a strategy containing an action plan of measures aimed at improving local air quality.
We can work with schools and other groups to deliver talks/presentations and arrange for expert visitors in a variety of fields, including:
• Increasing awareness of air quality issues such as sources of pollution, theeffects of pollutants on health, how air quality can be improved, and what we are doing in Hull
• Air quality monitoring and the different methods used in Hull
• Statistical analysis and management of data
• Atmospheric pollution and dispersion modelling
• Encouraging individual lifestyle and social changes These can be tailored to suit all key stages.
As well as assisting in raising pupil’s awareness of air quality, we can also offer advice and guidance on ways of reducing the air quality impact of schools’ activities.
This could include providing advice on Travel Plans and signposting to other experts in activities such as cycling, walking, healthy eating and healthy lifestyles.
