Poem of the Day #19

Follow The Path, by Alex H

A voice came out of nowhere.
Someone is talking.
Who is it? Are they talking to me?
This voice is saying “You’re not alone”
“Follow the path, it will guide you to where
you need to go for help”.
After a few minutes the voice went as if
nothing happened.
I didn’t know what to do.
Lots of things are going through my mind.
I take one step at a time towards the path
I’ve been told to follow.
The voice appeared again and said “That’s it,
you’re doing it, keep following the path”.
It soon will be the next day, make that day a
different day.
I must be doing something right if the voice is
telling me that it’s good to follow the path.
I realised I’m not alone. People do care
and people will help.
I started to believe myself.
“Thank you” I said to the voice with a
sigh of relief.
As I was walking down the path to success
I could feel it getting better.
The dark was sticking behind me as the light
was breaking through, as I got closer to help.
It felt good to know I am on the right lines.
I kept on walking and it became a lot clearer.
I suddenly saw huge gates breaking through
the fog
As a sound of wind-chimes started to play
I could finally see the gates clearly
And there was a little boy just stood at the gates
Is he here for the same reason as me?
He said “Come here”.
I stepped closer and closer to him, but didn’t
want to get too near.
He said “I’m the voice that made you follow this
path for help”.
He told me his story behind this and it made
me realise it’s not just me going through a
rough time.
I felt a connection between us both and we
had each other.
“Everything is going to be ok”.
